Virginia Beach resident Delvon Lashawn Redd, 30, has been sentenced to 78 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to abusive sexual contact with a minor, according to a judge on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

According to his guilty plea, between April 17 and May 28, 2022, Redd, a serviceman staying at the Naval Lodge Hotel at the US Naval Air Station Patuxent River Base when he began speaking to an 11-year-old girl posing as someone who was 18.

During their interactions, Redd asked the girl to send him pictures of herself, and she sent a short video of herself in response, officials said.

Redd knew he was up to no good, commenting on how young the girl looked, but despite that, later that night, he drove to her home in Lexington Park, picked her up and drove her back to the Navy Lodge.

Prosecutors say that security footage shows Redd and girl entering his room at approximately 9:44 p.m, where he had sex with her and drove her back to her Maryland home the following day.

In addition to his prison term, when he is released, a judge also ordered that Redd register as a sex offender wherever he lives, works, or studies.
